Show reel of BAFTA nominated Edinburgh based writer/ director Joe Carter
About
Joe Carter: Writer/ Director
Since graduating with a degree in film I have continued to write and direct my own short films. Initially this was achieved by begging, borrowing and stealing: using friends as actors and doing as much as a could myself.
In more recent years I have been lucky to get funding for scripts that I have written and last year I was funded to direct ‘I Was Here’ written by playwright Morna Pearson. This was the first film that I directed but had not written and it went on to be nominated for a Scottish BAFTA as well as currently featuring on the BBC Iplayer.
At present, I am developing my feature film ‘Helladay’ with help from the SFTN Feature film development fund as well as developing a sitcom with the guys at Hopscotch films in Glasgow.
I also have my beady eye on making another short film as well as continuing directing corporate work.
When I’m not writing or directing I am being harassed by my little girl in a soft play in Leith!
